Description

FUB-AKB48 (also known as FUB-APINACA) is an indazole-based synthetic cannabinoid that is presumed to be a potent agonist of the CB1 receptor and has been sold online as a designer drug. It is an analogue of APINACA and 5F-APINACA where the pentyl chain has been replaced with fluorobenzyl.

FUB-AKB48 belongs to the synthetic cannabinoids family, which is a very diverse group of research chemicals featuring several distinct families. Indazole-based substances are one of the classes of cannabinoids most suitable for systematic research, as they are characterized by a strong affinity for cannabinoid receptors, and highly reliable behavior under lab conditions.

FUB-AKB48 is the latest product of the indazole type to become available on research chemical websites, and is drawing significant interest. This chemical is closely related to APINACA and 5F-APINACA, but has some slight structural changes in the form of a 4-fluorobenzyl group substituted in place of a pentyl chain. The molecule contains an adamantyl-carboxamide moiety and resembles a well known cannabinoid JWH-018 (which acts as a dominant agonist of the peripheral CB2 receptors), but due to presence of fluorobenzyl group, FUB-AKB48 is expected to display significant impact on CB1 as well.
